preparation

Some say that good luck is 99% preparation.

When you go on a cross-country road trip, preparation is pretty damn important.

We had planned a 1,000 mile road trip for about six months now, so we have had quite enough time to prepare.  Maybe it's because we're not used to serious road trips (it's probably been 20 years since our last one to Las Vegas) but I ended up forgetting quite a number of things.

Some things we forgot:
Maps (duh)
cap to block the sun
light jacket
non-computer glasses
travel mugs

And there are a few other things that it's best not to mention.

But it wasn't a total loss or bonehead.  Some important things we DID remember to pack/prepare for:
new car
clothes
snacks for the road
sunglasses

Which reminds me of an old saw: do what I say, not what I do.

(getting old is a bitch)

This is the main thing I needed to remember to bring - success!!  It's been a dream on the road.
