Quick one from Allen Clifton. He's doing pretty well at keeping up with the insanity coming out of the Trump black hole. It's hard. They continually flood the zone with chaos and bullshit.
Here’s the level of insanity in which we’re currently dealing with. And I apologize in advance if this comes off as confusing to follow, because it is — that’s how much of a dumpster fire we’re all witnessing right now.
Completely out of nowhere, the First Lady just came out to deny she had any relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and called on Congress to bring witnesses forward and go after the sexual predators being protected in those files. All the while, Donald Trump claimed he had no idea she was going to say any of this, while her spokesman said he was aware. Of course, her husband has spent months trying to cover up these files, calling them a "Democratic hoax," telling people they needed to "move on," and just fired his attorney general for not doing a better job keeping them from being seen by the public.
This administration announced a ceasefire deal with Iran that doesn't appear to be any kind of deal, as Israel just keeps attacking Lebanon, Iran keeps launching missiles at Middle Eastern nations, and the president seems clueless about what's been "tentatively agreed upon" as part of this ceasefire. First, he's called the published 10-point plan by Iran "fake news," but then has made comments alluding to parts of it. In particular, the tolls Iran now wants to have charged for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz — something that was previously free for shipping vessels to do prior to Trump's war.
After openly threatening war crimes against millions of Iranian civilians, Trump has now started going on long, unhinged rants against popular right-wing media personalities such as Megyn Kelly, Alex Jones, Candace Owens, and Tucker Carlson for criticizing some of his erratic behavior as of late. Apparently, these far-right individuals who've spent 10+ years backing every horrible thing he's done are now no better than "woke libs" because they dared to question the orange MAGA god on something.
Despite threatening war crimes and to "annihilate" an entire civilization, Congress remains on recess and Republicans seem fine doing absolutely nothing about it despite the fact that that's literally their job.
Inflation just reached the highest level it's been in years, yet this administration has done nothing but dismiss those concerns.
Israel continues to prove that they're going to do whatever they want, and this president seems unable, if not outright unwilling, to do anything about it.
Trump's starting to go off on rants about Greenland again.
He's also ramped up his threats to jail journalists unless they reveal their sources.
And, again, this is all just from the last few days.
What we're witnessing is completely unprecedented. I know I've said it a lot lately, but this is exactly why our Founding Fathers gave us a way to remove a sitting president, as it's clear the one we have now is completely unfit to serve.
I know we're more than a decade into the nightmare of Donald Trump as a leading figure in American politics for Republicans, but it still seems unreal that this is being allowed to happen while the GOP sits there and does absolutely nothing about it. The same party that impeached Bill Clinton for lying about a consensual affair doesn't seem to think any actions are warranted when a person holding that same office threatens war crimes and fires his attorney general for not protecting child predators better.
