The U.S. is the most-religious Western power on Earth. This is a bad thing. For too long, we have let superstition and magical thinking dominate the discourse.

It wasn't that long ago that "witches" were being burned at the stake, for little more than innuendo and alleged violation of some ill-conceived norm of the church.

Still today, people go willingly to their deaths in service of magical thinking, taking others with them against their will. Our own military is rife with religious sentiment. "Christian" warriors still roam the barracks.

The ignorance and insanity has to stop, before it kills us all.

According to Dick Armey, God would not even allow global warming. So we don't need to concern ourselves with it. Full speed ahead!

I ran across an interesting website today: Why Won't God Heal Amputees.com. I borrowed a video I found from that website and posted it below. I found that site while reading "A Letter To A Christian Nation" by Sam Harris. It's a short, excellent read. If this were another time and place, Sam would have been killed for writing it. So, while things are "better" today, we as a nation, as a people, as a planet, have a long, long way to go.
