Nine years ago today

On November 11, 2000, when the battle between Al Gore and George W. Bush for the presidency of the United States was just heating up (btw, can you imagine how different things would have been for the USA if Gore had been allowed to "rightfully" become President? Yeah, me neither, but I have no doubt they would not have been nearly as disastrous as that idiot Bush), the wife and I decided to quit smoking.

It was a rather tense time for the country. And for us. But something snapped in us and we decided to give up cigarettes once and for all. It really wasn't all that hard, perhaps aided by the fact that both of us quit at the same time and we each gave the other encouragement.

Nine years later, we still haven't fallen off the wagon. We figure ... nine years ... that's about 3,285 days ... times 2 packs per day (one pack per day for each of us), = 6,570 packs of cigarettes ... multiply by $3/pack, which may actually be a low figure ... that = $19,710!!!

Now, if we could just locate that $19,710 ... Where the hell did it go?
