The Party's Over

The Party's Over. By that I just mean that the Democratic Party's 2024 Convention is now in the history books. Of course, it could also apply to the GOP. The way they have been behaving with Trump is shameful, cowardly, even traitorous, and could very well signal the end of the Republican Party. They seriously need to disband and re-form under more "normal" Republican principles. Splitting in two would be a great idea that would ensure Democratic seats coast-to-coast and top to bottom until they got their shit together again. They deserve to be lost in the desert for a few years while the Democrats continue to clean up the messes that the Republicans have created. I won't go into max detail, but the simple topics of corporate tax policy, Citizen's United, and women's rights could take a while to unfuck up. Then there are the subjects of weed, our over-reliance on oil and gas, climate change, and the educational system. So many things to unfuck up.

For now, we Democrats can bask in the glow of an awesome Party Convention in Chicago. There was nothing like the troubles in Chicago in 1968. Such a smooth transition from one leader (Joe Biden) to another (Kamala Harris) I have never seen before. I imagine that some aspiring Democrats might feel a little cheated out of their chance to compete for the presidency in 2024, but they did have a chance to compete against Biden in the Primary period, and very few did. So, STFU.

I didn't do any posts here on the blog during the Chicago convention for a few different reasons. I watched just about every minute of all four nights on C-SPAN. I get very tired of all the commentary offered on the usual channels. Oftentimes, they talk right on top of a speaker, assuming what they have to say is more interesting than the speaker at the podium. And of course they have to get an injection of cash constantly, so they have to air commercials. C-SPAN was a pleasure to watch, but of course, after the convention when they start taking phone calls from viewers again, I tune out. Some of the people that call in to C-SPAN are, well, embarrassing. Call me elitist and fuck off.

I am going to leave Kamala's acceptance speech from last night (Aug 22) here for future reference and just in case any of you haven't seen it. Small chance of that, but this was an outstanding speech. Really energized and excited the crowds inside the United Center in Chicago. Enjoy! And vote BLUE!
