Telluride

Telluride is a real pretty little (stress on little with about 2000 people) town high up in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.  The official elevation is 8,750' and that's pretty damn high.  It's located in a box canyon so there is really only one way in and one way out, unless you have a four-wheel drive vehicle and a death wish and want to drive over the mountains to the east.  Not me.

Little did we know we were arriving in the monsoon season.  I didn't know they even had a monsoon season in the mountains.  Normally rain is a welcome event, but with the monsoons come rock and mud slides and we had a couple while we were there.  Fortunately the house we were staying in was not right up against the mountain so we didn't have any trouble.  Unlike the neighbors.
One of the first things I wanted to do was (surprise!) visit the marijuana dispensaries. Telluride has four of them, and all of them double as medical dispensaries.  It is quite a hoot to be able to buy legal weed in the U.S.  I frankly never thought I would see it happen.  Just goes to show what progressives and liberals can do when they band together.

Each dispensary carried different strains and different edibles.  Each publishes a daily "menu" listing the flower strains and their THC content. Like a kid in a candy store. And the places were doing quite a brisk business.

As a tourist, there are limits.  A tourist can buy only 1/4 oz (7 grams) per day of flowers (buds) at each store. For the edibles, tourists can buy up to 700 grams, which can be quite a large amount.  If you would like to keep up with the weed happenings in Colorado, keep an eye on this newsletter.  One kinda odd thing I noticed is that, in each store I visited, they merely glanced at my drivers license.  I had heard that they would log each and every sale with a name and address, but, no.  So, don't worry.
