A new bill has been proposed in the U.S. Senate to fully legalize medical marijuana at the national level, which would be fundamentally and totally awesome. Currently the bill has three co-sponsors: Rand Paul (R-KY), Kirstin Gillibrand (D-NY), and Cory Booker (D-NJ).
I have little doubt that the Republicans will block this, even though one Republican is a co-sponsor. Rand is one of those rare mutant Republicans called libertarians (although Paul is far from a pure libertarian).
The Republicans continue to play the role of grumpy, stern, and disagreeable old geezers that only seem to love tax cuts for those that don't actually need them.
