FIRST Robotics

Houston, Texas is hosting the latest FIRST Robotics competition April 19-22 and then St. Louis April 26-29. It's fantastic to see so many young people getting interested in science and technology! It's the only way humanity is going to survive!

Dean Kamen started this whole thing, and good on him. Science!

One of Kamen’s proudest accomplishments is founding FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), an organization dedicated to motivating the next generation to understand, use, and enjoy science and technology. Founded in 1989, this year FIRST will serve more than 300,000 young people, ages 6 to 18, in more than 60 countries around the globe. High-school-aged participants are eligible to apply for more than $16 million in scholarships from leading colleges, universities, and corporations. Studies have shown that FIRST Alumni are highly motivated to pursue careers in science and engineering, thus fulfilling Dean's goal of inspiring the next generation of technological leaders.
