Burglary

A couple of weekends ago, our neighbor on the other end of our townhomes (we live on one end of a block of three townhomes), had their home burglarized while they were on vacation. 

Another neighbor just happened to notice a gold Jaguar (I know!) stopped on the street and saw two guys jump over the fence.  He called 911.  Fortunately, our neighbors have a home alarm (as we do), and so the loud alarm helped to scare the burglars away before they could do too much.  They broke in the back door and quickly ran through the house looking for valuables.  They apparently got next to nothing.  But they did get away before the police arrived.

Just a couple of days ago these same neighbors tell me that the police just came by their house again with some interesting news.  It seems that the same two burglars, still driving that gold Jaguar, broke into a home on the far NW side of town.  In this case, that homeowner was home and he had a gun.  One of the burglars was killed, and the other was wounded and went to the hospital, certainly to be charged and jailed when he gets out of the hospital.

It's not often you hear about two crooks meeting a swift fate like this.  For all I know, of course, these two had been burglarizing multiple homes, but at least we do know one thing:  they won't be doing this again for a long, long time.
