solar flares

You know what's hilarious?  The fact that the sun, at any given moment, could launch a massive solar flare that could literally wipe life off of this planet.  We would detect it, but would only have about eight minutes warning.

Or, a previously undetected asteroid could suddenly appear and slam into the earth, releasing more energy than 1000 hydrogen bombs.

We walk a fine line between being an absolute hedonist (because we could all be dead at any given moment) and reining in your impulses (because we'll likely be here for 60-80 years).

Solar Flares Could Send Shock Waves Friday The 13th

In the past two days the Sun has had three major solar flares on its surface which affected communications on Earth and could send a shockwave through Earth this Friday the 13th. Brief blackouts in high frequency communications were caused when they struck twice on Tuesday morning and once Wednesday morning between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. EDT.
Solar flares are bursts of radiation on the sun’s surface. According to NASA, the disturbance to Earth’s atmosphere can disrupt GPS and communications signals.
