Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma

"Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma" does not bring sweetness and light to mind. No.

I recently learned that my mother has had a relapse of this rather mysterious cancer. She was first diagnosed with it about a year ago. She underwent some chemo to treat it then and seemed to do very well. She's been "clean" for the last several months, but a recent visit to the doctor confirmed that it has returned. People are surviving longer than ever after being diagnosed and treated for this, but still...

There are few things like the threat of mortality that can change your perspective on things so radically. Suddenly, the troubles at work become trifles. Suddenly, the competition between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton loses significance. There are more important things. Perspective is an amazing thing. The mind reels, gets tossed as on a stormy sea, but must find balance.
