Mark's

So on Sunday evening we decided to belatedly celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary at a really nice (read: expensive) restaurant.

We just so happened to have a $100 gift card to Mark's American Cuisine, a spot that has occupied the same place on Westheimer for 16 years.  The building used to be a church, but a restaurant is a much better use of real estate, if you ask me.

Yeah, yeah, I took my wife to a nice restaurant for a "free" meal.  Hey, we had to use the gift card sooner or later.  The wife got the gift card from one of her clients as a thank you.

Since it was a "school night" (we have to go to work the next day) we decided to have no wine, which allowed us to spend $98.35 at the restaurant.  We left $15 in cash on the table as a tip, because the service was good.  So the awesome meal cost us $15.  Now THAT'S a bargain.

I didn't take a picture of the food this time, but here's the menu items:

Chicken
Hearth Roasted Springer Mountain Farms Chicken, House made Chicken Sausage, Mississippi Style Grits, Ratatouille, Grilled Portabello and Baby Arugula with a Natural Sauce $29.95

Pork
Coffee Roasted Kurobuta Pork Loin with Petite Fingerlings, Apple Smoked Bacon, Crispy Sweet Potatoes, Jewel Fruit Compote and a Tangerine Sauce $34.95

Throw in a Chef's Special "5-Star Salad" for $25, which we split, and it was a really amazing meal.  I highly recommend this restaurant, if you happen to have a lot of money burning a hole in your pocket.
