1st Church of Cannabis

Hey!  What a brilliant idea!  Make worshipping marijuana your sacrament and build a church around it.  With all the "religious freedom" bullshit going around these days, why not a church devoted to weed?  If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!

Speaking of joining, when can I join?

Marijuana-Worshipping 'Church' Gets Tax-Exempt Status From IRS

An Indiana-based church that worships marijuana has been granted tax-exempt status.
First Church of Cannabis founder Bill Levin, 59, said it took 30 days for the IRS to grant his group tax-exempt status.
“Somebody at the IRS loves us,” he added.
The church does not yet have a space, and its first service won’t be held until July 1.
The First Church of Cannabis has raised about $11,000 so far. Its GoFundMe page reads:
Are other religions just not [satisfying] your need for spirituality? Has your faith left the standard church doctrine?  Well I have an answer. I have created the FIRST CHURCH OF CANNABIS. A church based on LOVE and FAITH with the plant we know and love.
Marijuana is still illegal in Indiana.
Bill O'Reilly took a look at the amazing new "church" with Indianapolis Star opinion editor Tim Swarens. They agreed that the whole thing sounds like a "con."
Swarens said Levin chose July 1 for the first service because that is when the state's religious freedom law takes effect.
So would the police show up, since marijuana is illegal? O'Reilly asked.
Swarens said Levin is probably "betting" that the police will not want the negative publicity that could come from such a raid.
Original.  (sorry, but this link goes to FOX, which means that this story may be total bullshit.)
