Angela Nicholson

OK, now here is an odd one. For some reason, out of the blue, I started getting posts from this woman, Angela Nicholson. She appears to be an atheist of sorts, but then she goes deep into the woo-woo weeds of energy, spirituality, and consciousness. And she's kinda cute, which I admit is a point in her favor. It ain't fair, but there it is. I agree with her on some of what she says here, but then she really jumps into the deep end. I don't think I will ever understand this algorithm bullshit.

Telling children they are going to burn in hell for eternity is child abuse.

You are taking the most horrifying possible outcome you can imagine and placing it inside the mind of a developing child as a consequence for getting something wrong. You are not teaching them through understanding, wisdom, empathy, or connection. You are threatening them with the worst possible fate imaginable and calling that spiritual guidance.

Teaching a child to embody morals requires that you ground them into the virtues of their soul, their internal moral compass. Why compassion matters, why integrity matters, why their choices affect other people, why love is more powerful than cruelty, and how to develop an internal relationship with goodness- does not depend on someone standing over them with a horrific threat. It depends on deep resonance with goodness in their consciousness. It depends on total integration of divine consciousness into their being.

Telling a child they will burn in hell for eternity if they make a mistake or question their own belief system is not teaching a child to develop a relationship with goodness. That is conditioning obedience through terror.

There is something profoundly damaging that happens in a child when you teach a them that the Source who loves them unconditionally will also separate them from that love for eternity if they fail to believe, obey, or live according to the conditions they have been given. That's not unconditional love. That is teaching them that the highest form of divine love can equally become the most evil form of cruelty. That essentially sends the message that true love does not actually exist.

Think about what that does to a developing child's brain. And then we wonder why so many people grow up confusing love with fear, control, obedience, punishment, abandonment, and abuse.
What does the subconscious mind begin to associate love with when the word "love" is repeatedly paired with the threat of eternal torture? Fear. Punishment. Conditional acceptance. Abandonment. Separation.

That is not a small psychological contradiction.

A child is learning what love means through the people who are supposed to be teaching them about it. And if the spiritual authority in their life says, "God loves you more than anything, but if you don't do what God requires, God will allow you to suffer for eternity," then the child is being taught that love and evil can exist as the same thing.

And that is profoundly damaging.

Because love is not supposed to be something a child has to earn. The role of a parent is not to make a child terrified that love will disappear if they fail. The role of a parent is to provide love as the foundation, and from that unchanging foundation, and child can be taught the values of that foundation. Teaching a child what goodness looks like by helping them develop empathy, cultivate integrity, repair harm, understand natural consequences, and learn how to live in harmonious relationship with themselves and other people- requires that foundational love.

And then there is the completely contradictory teaching to children that they are inherently sinful while simultaneously making freedom from sin the finish line they have to reach to avoid eternal punishment. You tell a child they were born broken, that they are naturally inclined toward sin, and then tell them that if they continue to behave in ways that reflect that supposed inherent sinful nature that they can't escape, they burn in hell for eternity. You have created a finish line they can never actually reach, because the child is being told from the beginning that there is something fundamentally wrong with the very nature they are created with. So now they are not simply learning how to become more loving, conscious, compassionate human beings. They are constantly measuring themselves against an impossible standard, terrified that they will never be good enough to escape punishment. And that is the opposite of spiritual liberation. It creates a human being who is perpetually afraid of their own humanity instead of empowered to understand it, heal it, and consciously choose what they want to become.

A child does not need to be taught that they entered this world spiritually contaminated. I can't believe that thought form even exists. Children are obviously born perfect and pure. And they need to know that they are sacred. They need this pure light that is inhernetly who they are to be loved, protected, nourished, and able to blossom fully.

They need to know that their bodies are sacred, their questions are sacred, their emotions are worthy of understanding, their curiosity is not a threat to God, and their relationship the Divine is nothing to fear. It is something to cultivate wholeheartedly and without fear.

If God is Divine Love, then why introduce children to God through the threat of eternal suffering?

If goodness is truly good, why teach children to choose it because they are afraid of punishment rather than because they understand its beauty?

If love is truly unconditional, why teach children that they can be eternally separated from it?

And if a spiritual system requires fear to make children obey, what is it actually teaching them about the nature of the Divine?

Children do not need to be threatened into spirituality. They need the freedom, nuturing, virtues and guidance on discovering the sacred.

They need adults who can teach them discernment instead of obedience without question. That love is the most powerful force in the existance. That oneness is true and separation is not. They need to know that questioning what they were taught is perfectly healthy and does not make them bad in any way. They need to know that their humanity is not something they were born needing to escape. They need to be safe to blossom harmoniously into their human nature and not live in rehection and fear of it.

Children are not inherently sinful and in need of being threatened into submission. Children are Divine. And it is our job as parents to make sure this Divine consciousness becomes fully integrated.
