We have been making the drive between Houston and South Texas for damn near 35 years now, at the rate of about once per year. If there is one constant over all that time, it is road construction.
Eventually, I have to assume, the Texas portion of the new I-69 corridor will be complete. they are working on multiple pieces of the road every time we drive that route.
This time, we made the trip in about 5 and 1/2 hours, which is probably a record. Once you clear Rosenberg, southwest of Houston, it's a 75MPH stretch just about all the way. Set that sucker on cruise control, smoke a bowl or two, and poof! You're there.
There is nothing like the sea breeze. It's just over that sand dune. (click the pic)
