Tomball Tollway

Oh, thank goodness!  Those poor suburbanites northwest of Houston, Texas can now avoid seven, count them, SEVEN stoplights by taking the new 6-mile stretch of the Tomball Tollway that was just finished, and it will cost them only $1.45 each way.

Building this 6-mile-long strip of roadway cost "only" $335 million.  And it's not finished. Now Montgomery County has to step up to finish it. My question is when will we sell it off to private enterprise?

Enjoy the open road, the announcement says. That's just absurd and obscene in Houston.  About the only time you can "enjoy the open road" in Houston is around 3am, but that's when all the wrong-way drunk drivers are out and about, so you'd better watch out!
